“Act as though you have no insurance”
The first words.
Sorry for the somewhat bold approach but we wouldn’t be doing our job without explaining the reality of an insurance claim, particularly following a major disaster.
NO MATTER who you are insured with loss adjusters are appointed. On arrival at your premises this could be the first thing you will hear.
Why? - please understand insurers are not trying to wriggle out of paying the claim. They need to investigate the cause of the claim, compliance with policy conditions (more of which later), company structure (more of which later).
The “later” bit – If there is one single point we ask you to take from this it is this.
Please read you policy conditions…….WORD FOR WORD.
If any area is not complied with there is every likelihood the insurer will refuse to deal with the claim.
Company structure – the insurer will check the structure of the business which will include previous liquidations / bankruptcies / court actions etc of any director.
Again, issues not previously disclosed could result in the insurer not paying the claim.
Ok, so now for the good news.
What do we do?
Firstly we are not simply a post box nor do we tell you to deal directly with the insurer (as many of our competitors do).

- Tell you about policy conditions and check these are acceptable.
- Work closely with you and guide you each step of the way.
- If appropriate, appoint specialists who work for you and not the insurer.
- talk about risk management to establish improvements to your business.
