Major contractor stored JCB in their main yard. The JCB was stolen and the loss adjuster repudiated the claim due to no listing of machinery & plant at the premises. d2 Claims handler arranged meeting with insurer, identifying that cover was available under the Contractors All Risks section and the yard should have been a safer place for the plant to be stored than a site. Claim of £25,000 paid and client delighted with result.
During the renewal review process for an existing client, we identified the clients exposure to accidental death/injury to all their staff on a "24/7 basis". As a result, d2 placed the relevant cover at a competitive premium in addition to the existing programme. Regrettably, the Managing Director of the client was killed in a motor accident within 1 month of this renewal. He had been a large income earner to the company and thankfully the insurance cover placed by d2, assisted the company financially in what was a very difficult subsequent period.
Client's vehicle was left unattended in their yard with the keys left in the ignition. Although left for only a brief period of time the vehicle was stolen. Initially the claim was refused however after research on case law and discussions with the insurer at a senior level, agreement to pay the claim in full was reached.
